Battle
This charming market town grew up around the Abbey and takes its name from the 1066 battle between England’s would-be rulers William, Duke of Normandy and the Saxon, King Harold.

Battle was once home to one of the country’s largest and most successful Gunpowder Works that kept British ships loaded throughout the Napoleonic Wars and most likely supplied the powder used in the Guy Fawkes’ plot! Lot’s to do and see and well worth a visit.

Bexhill-on-Sea
This stately Edwardian seaside resort is the Birthplace of British Motor Racing and home to the De La Warr Pavilion, one of the UK’s finest examples of modernist architecture and now a major arts centre.

The town was extensively featured in the famous ITV adaption of ‘Poirot’ with actor David Suchet and boasts a timeless two-mile promenade and an acclaimed museum.

Great seaside town, lots of history and a mecca for those interested in arts and architecture.

Kent & East Sussex Railway
The Kent & East Sussex Railway is the country’s finest example of a rural light railway.

The line gently wends its way from Tenterton – “The Jewel of the Weald” for ten and a half miles through the unspoilt countryside of the Rother Valley. To terminate in the shadow of the magnificent national Trust castle at Bodiam.

Whether you are interested in heritage, shopping, nature, food, drink or recreation, there is always something to enjoy when visiting the Kent & East Sussex Railway.
